Ralph was a member and former Warden of Old St. Andrew's Parish Episcopal Church, a graduate of Charleston High School, a Navy Veteran, and served on the Aircraft Carrier Essex in WWII. Surviving are his wife of Charleston, SC; his sons- Michael F. Warren, M.D., and his wife Shelley, Kenneth R. Warren and his wife Nancy, and Gerald C. Warren, M.D., and his wife Torey all of Charleston, SC; his daughter- Melinda W. SOLOMON, Alan Alan Mark Solomon of Monsey, New York passed away on the evening of Friday, February 6, 2004 after a long illness. Mr. Solomon was born and raised in Charleston, SC and moved to Monsey, New York with his family in 1981. He was a graduate of The Baptist College of Charleston with a degree in Business Administration and was a retired mortgage banker. He was very active in the Orthodox Synagogue in Monsey, NY. The family will be sitting Shiva Tuesday thru Friday at the home of Sanford and Shelley Solomon, 1864 Cat Tail Row, Charleston, SC 29407. He is survived by his wife, Hedy Gelbstein Solomon of Monsey, NY; one son: Joshua Lee Solomon and his wife Barbara Solomon of Hollywood, FL; one daughter: Erika S. STEIN, Nathan Mr. Nathan Stein, 87, of Wilmington, died Sunday, February 8, 2004, at New Hanover Regional Medical Center. Mr. Stein was born February 11, 1916, in Wilmington, the son of the late Hyman and Goldie Shain Stein. Mr. Stein was a member of B'Nai Israel Synagogue for more than 80 years and was on the Building Committee when the Synagogue Building was built on Chestnut Street. He had held positions of President and Treasurer and served for more than 50 years on the Cemetery Committee. He was a member of the Wilmington Masonic Lodge #319 for more than 50 years, a 32 degree mason, a Shriner and a member of the Sudan Temple. Mr. Stein was the owner of G. Stein Furniture Company for more than 60 years. He was also an avid fisherman, gardener, and poker player. Survivors include his loving wife of 60 years, Esther Silver Stein of the home, his three children Howard and Harriet Stein of Charleston, S.C., Stephen and Martha Stein of Wilmington and Marian Stein and Jerry Samet of Greensboro. His grandchildren, David and Jill Stein, Marc Stein of Charleston, S.C., Catey and Jason Moretz of Roanoke, Va., Jenny Stein of Atlanta, Ga., Alyssa and Hannah Samet of Greensboro, N.C., Chip and Marlene Murphy and Susan Murphy of Wilmington, great-grandchildren, Hannah and Seth Murphy-Moore, Ana and Kayla Murphy all of Wilmington, Jack Thomas Stein of Charleston, S.C., Noah Moretz of Roanoke, Va., and a brother Leon Stein and wife Grace of Wilmington. She never met a stranger and her love of Jesus Christ and life has always radiated through to everyone. She leaves many loving memories for all her family and friends to cherish. HUNTER, Frances-Anne ABBEVILLE, SC - Frances-Anne Fraser Hunter, 67, of 403 N. Main St. Abbeville died Wednesday, February 4, 2004. Ms. Hunter was born in Madison County, Alabama to the late John and Bertha Mildred Bell Fraser. She attended the University of Dubuque Theological Seminary in Dubuque, Iowa, Wartburg Lutheran Seminary, The Lutheran Theological Southern Seminary in Columbia, SC, Gordon Conwell Seminary in Massachusetts, and the Regent Collage in Vancouver. She was a graduate of the University of Alabama where she was a member of the Delta Delta Delta Sorority. Ms. Hunter taught school in Alabama, Georgia, and South Carolina. She served on the Board of Directors for the Belk Corporation in Charlotte, NC. She also was a member of the Junior Miss, Junior Grace and Junior League in Huntsville, Alabama. Ms. Hunter received her Master of Divinity from Erskine College Seminary in Due West, SC. She served as Hospital Chaplain in Charleston at the Medical University of SC, Roper - St. Francis Hospital, and for St. Peters Episcopal Church. Surviving Ms. Hunter is her daughter, Brooke Bell Hunter of Talladega, Alabama, a sister, Helen Muir Fraser of Huntsville, Alabama, and a brother, John Fraser, IV of St. Petersburg, FL. A Memorial Service will be 6:00PM Wednesday, February 11, 2004 at the Trinity Episcopal Church in Abbeville. Mrs. Markham was born September 20 1910 in Berkeley County, SC, a daughter of Nathaniel Metts and Annie Metts. She was a member and past matron of the Order of the Eastern Star #112 for more than 50 years. She graduated from Stokes Business College and attended the College of Charleston. She was a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church. she was the widow of Arnold L. Markham, Sr. Surviving are a grandson, Dr. Daniel W. Cross, IV of Moncks Corner; step-sister, Della Ann Hunter of Pinopolis; step-son, Arnold L. PRIESTER, Howard Howard Harry Priester, 80, of Goose Creek, entered into eternal rest on the morning of Sunday, February 8, 2004, after an extended illness. Mr. Howard H. Priester, Sr., beloved father, friend and husband of Thelma Evan Priester. The family will receive friends Tuesday, February 10, 2004, from 7 to 9 p.m. at Carolina Memorial Funeral Home. Mr. Priester was born January 4, 1924, in Hampton County, S.C., and is the son of the late Harry Hastings Priester and Annie New Priester. He served 22 years in the US Navy, during this time Mr. Priester served in the Asian-Pacific theater during WWII as a member of the Fighting SeaBees, he was awarded the American Campaign Medal, the Asian-Pacific Campaign Medal, the Navy WWII Victory medal, WWII Navy Good Conduct Medal he also served aboard the USS Wisconsin BB 64, the USS Venture SO 496 and several other ships. Following his Navy career he worked in the maintenance department at the VA Hospital in Charleston, SC, and retired in 1982. He was a member of Midway Baptist Church. Mr. Priester is predeceased by three sisters, Harriott Priester Furr, Dorothy Priester Clark and Vivian Priester Reeves. He is survived by two sons, Howard H. Priester, of Tonasket, Wash., and David A. Priester and his wife Vicki Motts Priester of Summerville and two daughters, Linda Priester Johnson and her husband David Johnson of Gloucester, Va., and Belinda Priester Duncan of Charleston. Eight grandchildren Sherry Priester, Eric Priester, Jenny Priester, Jay Priester, Jay Happy, Jeff Happy, Justin Happy, David A. Priester, Jr., Heather M. Priester and eight great-grandchildren. He was a member and past officer of The National Association of Retired Federal Employees North Charleston Chapter and an Honorary Kentucky Colonel. Mr. Carnes was a charter member of Cooper River Baptist Church. He served in the US Navy on a destroyer during W.W.II and Korea. He retired as an Industrial Engineer with the Naval Facilities Engineering Command. He is survived by a daughter: Carol C. GUERRY, Grier Grier Marion Guerry, 95, of Moncks Corner, a retired ship fitter with the Charleston Naval Shipyard and a retired Fire Warden with the US Forest Service, died Sunday at a Summerville nursing home. the funeral will be at 11 a.m., Tuesday, at Wassamassaw Baptist church. He was a member of Wassamassaw Baptist Church. He was a painter, gardener, and an avid sportsman. He was the widower of Ruth Jolly Guerry. BRYAN, Kay WALTERBORO - Mrs. Margaret Kedi "Kay" Bryan, 84, of 716 Academy Road, died Sunday, February 8, 2004, at her daughter's residence in Goose Creek. Funeral services will be held at 4 o'clock, Wednesday, February 11, 2004, in the Brice W. Herndon and Sons Funeral Home, Walterboro Chapel, with Reverend Drew Collins officiating. Interment will be private. Mrs. Bryan was born in Bridgeport, Connecticut, the daughter of the late Ignatz Ringhoffer and Julia Nagy Ringhoffer on May 31, 1919. She was preceded in death by her son, Roscoe Butler; grandson, Johnny Mills; sisters, Judy, Rose and Goldie, and brother, Andrew. She came to South Carolina in the early 1940's. She first married the late Creed T. Butler, Sr., and together they owned and operated Butler's Motor Court and Restaurant in Jacksonboro, S.C., until the mid 1960's. She then owned and operated Roaders Restaurant, Kay's Grill and Butler's Texaco and Grocery on Hwy. 15 in Walterboro. She was secondly married to the late William J. "Bill" Bryan. She was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, a past member of the Eastern Star and the Women's Moose Auxiliary. She was a member of the Senior Pep Club. She loved to play Bingo and Senior Friends, whom she loved and cherished. Surviving are: daughters, Julie Mills and her husband Skeeter of Goose Creek, Donna Sineath of Islandton, Catherine Peters of Walterboro, Marie Todd and her husband Bubba of Garden City, Ga.; sons, Jimmy Butler and his wife Ann of Hampton and Creed "C.T." Butler, Jr., of Walterboro; grandchildren, Sandra Butler Walling, Billy Webster, Holly Causey, Becky Deloach, Cassie Sineath, Gary Peters, Randy Peters, Robbie Peters, Dustin Butler, Summer Butler, Randy Todd, Buddy Todd, Jackie Todd and Linda Todd; 15 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
